PARAMARIBO, Suriname- Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jacqueline E. Vanterpool is leading the Virgin Islands delegation at the 40th Annual General Meeting and Conference of the Association of Caribbean Commissioners of Police (ACCP), taking place in Suriname from May 11 to 15, 2026.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) is represented by DCP Jacqueline E. Vanterpool, Chief Inspector Smyrna Brewley, and the Chairman of the Police Welfare Association, Sergeant Sean A. McCall.

This marks the fourth time that DCP Vanterpool is participating in the ACCP Conference in her official capacity.

The official opening ceremony was held on May 11 in Paramaribo, Suriname, bringing together Commissioners of Police and senior law enforcement officials from across the Caribbean, as well as government representatives and heads of security agencies from Suriname.

Purpose of conference

The conference, themed “Organised Crime: Implications for Regional Development,” features a series of plenary sessions, panel discussions, and strategic meetings. The discussions will also explore the growing role and use of artificial intelligence in modern law enforcement.

According to a Facebook post by the RVIPF, the ACCP Conference continues to serve as a vital platform for fostering collaboration among Caribbean law enforcement agencies, strengthening regional partnerships, and advancing collective strategies to effectively respond to emerging security threats impacting the region.

Ms Vanterpool has served as Acting Commissioner of Police of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) and commands the respect and trust of the Virgin Islands community; however, the unelected Governor, Daniel Pruce, who many are now labelling as racist and sexist, among other things, continues to block her appointment to the position.

I could shake your hand for telling the truth. I can trace my roots back to 5 generations. I AM a Virgin Islander, but it doesn't mean we should put the wrong person in the job because they are from here. It doesn't mean that I am for everybody else replacing us in jobs, but the right person for the right post, with us getting first preference is fair. She had a fair chance and she failed. Period..

Daniel Pruce, the so-called Governor of the Virgin Islands came here and disrespected the people of the Virgin Islands with his racist white supremacy antics hiding behind a piece of paper he called the constitution to disrespect us and keep us in substituted for his superiority. The sad thing about this that we accepted it before we p*** his @#$ out of our country.

This police force is a circus and only good for dressing up and marching- the women too fat to pursue a swift criminal and the men are all from other islands with no loyalty to the people- before even any investigation the evidence is tainted with gossip- and police giving news to criminals - we do not have a police force - God help us

She is unfit intellectually and emotionally to occupy this post. She needs to leave that alone.

Great to see regional police leaders working together on organized crime and AI challenges. Wishing DCP Vanterpool and the VI delegation a productive conference in Suriname.

Collaboration across the Caribbean is so important right now. Hopefully the ideas shared at the ACCP conference will lead to stronger security partnerships in the region.
