David D. Archer Jr to act as governor for 1 month
The Deputy Governor of the Virgin Islands, David D. Archer Jr, will serve as Acting Governor for one month during Governor Pruce's absence.
Governor Pruce will be out of the territory from November 22, 2025, to December 23, 2025, to particpate in the Joint Ministerial Council, which is taking place from November 26 to November 27, 2025, in London and will proceed to his annual leave thereafter.
Oath of allegiance & execution of office
Mr Archer's Oath of Allegiance and Oath for Due Execution of Office were administered by Her Ladyship, the Honourable Justice Angelica Teelucksingh, in the presence of His Excellency Governor Daniel Pruce on November 20, 2025.
Deputy Governor Archer, Jr.'s appointment complies with Section 37 (1) (a) of the Virgin Islands Constitution Order 2007, which states, “During any period when the office of Governor is vacant, or the Governor is absent from the Virgin Islands or is, for any other reason, unable to perform the functions of his or her office, the Deputy Governor shall, during His Majesty’s pleasure, act in the office of Governor and shall perform the functions of that office accordingly.”
