David D. Archer, Jr. is now acting Governor until Nov, 22, 2021

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Deputy Governor, Mr. David Archer, Jr will act in the Office of Governor from November 13 to 22, 2021, in the absence of His Excellency the Governor, Mr. John J. Rankin, CMG who will be out of the Territory on business.

The Deputy Governor Archer, Jr’s appointment is in accordance with section 37 (1) (a) of the Virgin Islands Constitution Order 2007.

The constitution states, “During any period when the office of Governor is vacant, or the Governor is absent from the Virgin Islands or is for any other reason unable to perform the functions of his or her office, the Deputy Governor shall during Her Majesty’s pleasure, act in the office of Governor and shall perform the functions of that office accordingly.”

Premier and Minister of Finance, Hon Andrew A., Fahie (R1) is also out of the territory and in his place, Deputy Premier and Minister for Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Fisheries and Agriculture, Dr. the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) is currently acting as Premier.
