ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Deputy Governor, Mr David D. Archer, Jr will act in the Office of Governor from December 15 to 22, 2022.

According to a press release from Government Information Services (GIS) on December 14, 2022, the United Kingdom (UK) appointed Governor, Mr John J. Rankin CMG, who has been criticised for portraying himself as an elected official just like controversial ex-governor Augustus J. U. Jaspert, will be out of the Territory during that period.

Deputy Governor Archer, Jr’s appointment is in accordance with section 37 (1) (a) of the Virgin Islands Constitution Order 2007 which states, “During any period when the office of Governor is vacant, or the Governor is absent from the Virgin Islands or is for any other reason unable to perform the functions of his or her office, the Deputy Governor shall during His Majesty’s pleasure, act in the office of Governor and shall perform the functions of that office accordingly.”

      I agree with you 100%. It is foolishness in the 21st century to have a Governor who is not elected by the people of the Territory.

      I agree that John the waste of time but he's waving the slavery whip over us once again to get us to do what he and his bosses want and trying to convince us that they are doing it in our best interest.

    Once our Ministers of Government leaves the Territory on official business the people are informed of where they are going and for what. This man keep travelling every minute and he does not respect the people to state whether these trips are official trips and where and for what. These colonial masters have us sleeping all over again.

    There is no way that a Governor from the UK can act in any Overseas Territory best interest. The only interest they have is that of their bosses in the UK and what they want for the people of the OTs is far from what is best for the OTs. Time to elect the Governors from among the OTs.
