NICE, France- Virgin Islands cyclist Darel Christopher Jr has suffered a setback in his quest for qualification to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Christopher Jr, who is a member of the Albiono Pro Cycling Team registered in the Virgin Islands, was involved in an accident while cycling in France on Monday, April 15, 2024.

“Darel Jr was on his bicycle descending one of the big mountains in France when a vehicle made a sudden turn in front of him, causing him to become involved in an accident,” President of the BVI Cycling Federation Darel Christopher Sr told our News Centre today, April 16, 2024.

Broken bones but not spirit!

The BVICF president said Christopher Jr was transported by ambulance to the hospital where X-rays revealed he suffered a broken collar bone and scapula, “and other minor injuries.”

Christopher Jr was discharged from the hospital today and is eager to get going again to reach the Paris Olympics.

“Sorry to know the young man got into an accident, especially at a time when he is trying to qualify for the Olympics.

“He remains in high spirits, as he will continue his chances to try to qualify for Paris 2024,” Christopher Sr stated.
