I congratulate the Honourable Dame Janice M. Pereira, DBE, KC, on her achievements. However, it is unfortunate that, as a practising lawyer in the Virgin Islands and her concerns for access to justice, she stood aside from the human rights and immigration issues that plagued the BVI in the early 1990's. Along with other members of the BVI Bar Association, it was left for the litigant in person to fight it alone.
