FAT HOGS BAY, Tortola, VI – An irate elderly caller referred to as ‘Granny’ on the ‘Da Morning Braff’ Radio Show has blasted the New Life Baptist Church (NLBC) and its pastor Bishop Mr John I. Cline for what she referred to as a trip to Africa for outreach while there was work to be done in the Virgin Islands (VI).

“He publicly gone Africa…. image you got work to do here in the BVI, the Bible said you have to clean your yard before you dance abroad,” ‘Granny’ said on the July 18, 2023, edition of the show co-hosted Floyd Burnett aka ‘Heritage’ and Cindy Rosan.

Despite the hosts defending the outreach and stating that the initiative is an annual one, the unnamed ‘granny’ maintained that the VI should always come first.

Got 'work to do' in VI - Granny

Virgin Islands News Online on July 18, 2023, had reported that Bishop John I. Cline along with Dr Heskith A. Vanterpool, Dr Hubert O’Neal, and others have traveled to Nairobi, Kenya as part of an annual outreach with the first stop being the NLBC-funded Tortola Child Rescue and Education Centre (TCRAEC).

The caller added, “What about the schools here? We got to do work in our place, you take all the people them money here, let it spend here.”

“I don’t mind you help Africa, help Africa after the fact….” she further said in reference to VI.

Co-host Ms Rosan, in reprehending the caller, moved to shut down the conversation by suggesting that the elderly who called had no right to talk about local schools.

“Granny, Granny come on… y’ahll just vote in a useless government and now want to talk about schools?” she told the elderly caller.

Outreach is life-impacting – Bishop Cline

Meanwhile, Bishop Cline speaking to Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) said the outreach has been going successfully and is life-impacting not just for the outreach team, but for those benefiting from the free medical care, vision testing other types of aid.

The Bishop said the need to do the outreach was also inspired by the lessons of the Bible to give to the poor and those in need, while adding that it is a VI initiative and thanked those who supported it.

“We do this not for any fame or recognition, but it is how the Lord has led me over these years to reach back to the continent of Africa and help those that are in need,” he added.

The local people are very ungrateful, and full of pride even though they needs help, I am sure the person in Africa that Pastor Clyne and his church is helping is so Grateful unlike and appreciative of what they received small or big.

Continue to do what you are doing no matter where it is God gives vision near and far.

So I see Cindy is back in the seat again on Tola Radio. As a viewer, sometime I have to take a break from the morning braff due to the fact that the host can be a bit much and overbearing.

Some of you'll like to discredit and discourage others. What the lady is saying is that there is also need for outreach in the Territory. It isn't all about citizens stretching out their hands, but the humanitarian effort of assisting your own. Why we have to be so rude and darn right be disrespectful and discerning to how our elderly are seeing things from their position? The saying goes charity begins at home. For those bashing the caller, please find the evidence where NLBC has engaged in community give backs in aiding the Territory. As for the female host's remarks. She is just a sour puss. Instead of being bitter. Try and speak about the betterment of the government for the people and stop with your individual hateful ego.

Countries all over the world reach out and help other countries. Even though some of their own countrymen don't have enough, they find a way to help others who have less than they do. It's called sharing and donating to a good cause.
