LONG LOOK, Tortola, VI- Echoing the statement by Julio S. Henry aka ‘Sam’ that the Ninth District is “green district”, incumbent Representative and former Minister for Natural Resources and Labour Hon Vincent O. Wheatley has said he has been assured by the people of the Ninth District they will be giving the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) a second chance in office.

Hon Wheatley made the disclosure at the official campaign launch of Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley in the Seventh District last night, Tuesday, April 4, 2023.

“And they four years ago saw it fit to put their confidence in me and Team VIP.

“It has been a very challenging four years but Premier they have assured me that they fully understand that we didn’t get to accomplish all that we wanted to do because of various circumstances,” Hon Wheatley stated at the Stickit in Long Look.

The incumbent is being challenged for the D9 seat by National Democratic Party (NDP) candidate Coy W. Levons and Progressive Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM) candidate Hon Shereen D. Flax-Charles, an At Large Representative who defected from the VIP and is now an opponent of Hon Wheatley.

‘Don’t mind the noise’

“And they have assured me that they will give VIP, not might, that they will give VIP a second chance.

“From Anegada, Valley, North Sound, they have said to me ‘don’t mind the noise, we get it, we understand it, we know what you went through’, they said to me ‘it would be unfair to stop this now, what you have started. You didn’t get a good run, but we will give you a second chance’, but Premier we have work to do.

“They have said to me, we have work to do and that we are prepared to do.”

Hon Wheatley, in endorsing Premier Wheatley, said the incumbent D7 Representative has been tried and tested and has proven himself as a leader and deserves a second chance.

Premier Wheatley is being challenged in D7 by former Water and Sewerage boss Perline R. Scatliffe-Leonard.

Why would he need an ambulance? Its not that serious. Everybody saying different things PVIM saying they got the 9th on lock, NDP supporters finally wake up and there's still strong VIP support. We will see at the polls! Stop the BS noise buffalo

The numbers say Vincent wins. Coy should not have entered. He has zero chance of winning. But he has now taken 200+ votes away from Shereen and only she stood a chance of beating Vincent. By Coy joining and splitting those votes then Wheatley wins as he has The Sound locked. Shereen might get some in the Valley. Numbers don’t lie.
By having all these horse in every gate, it almost assured the incumbent VIP of winning. The other horses split the non VIP votes, while the VIP faithful will vote VIP all the way. Half of those newcomers and independents need to drop out the race and put country above themselves in a real way. They need to sacrifice themselves if they truly want a change!

Most will have their deposits retained by the Treasury. A lot of them will be making that donation to the consolidated fund.

The lady has done, accomplished and helped many, but most are not fully aware of. It is believed, then, that her mind, heart, intentions and actions are genuine, focused and are in the right place.

Therefore, I urge all to move beyond personality and uninformed judgemental conclusions, seek and dwelve into the facts, draw informed conclusions, and give the Hon. Lady the job to continue putting her vision for the territory and its people into action.

Her political feet are now wet, they are now firmly on the ground, her political sensibilities have matured, and those realities have placed her in a greater position to skillfully undertake and execute her duties for and benefit the country and all of us.

We will never know how good she is or well meaning she intends to be if she is not given the opportunity to work for us.

That being the case, it is believed that the Hon. lady will sincerely strive to bring about what she has stated, for the youths, the people and the territory at large.

Hence, let us give the Hon. lady the opportunity to prove her worth by us once more, for and with us.

To dispel any concerns about the Commission of Inquiry (COI), it would be beneficial for the Premier to publicly clear Hon. Carvin Malone and Hon. Vincent Wheatley, who have not faced any accusations or charges. This move would not only serve as a strategic move to improve the chances of the VIP ticket but also be in the Premier's best interest.

It is only a blind person would be able to make any negative statement about the accomplishment of the Hon. Premier and his contributions to the Seventh District and the Territory. As a young Political Leader standing on the world stage and delivered himself the way he did is truly remarkable. The future of this Territory looks bright under this Premier. Thanks to the former leader of the V.I.P who put all of the ministers to act as Deputy Premier for short periods. Perhaps he looked into his crystal ball and made them function for brief periods as Deputy Premier. To assume the office of Premier and minister of finance within a short notice and performed VERY WELL truly deserved a commendation and a second chance.
