Motorists drive too close to cyclists on the road. It’s dumb because you in your car cannot judge what the cyclist is going to do next. Wide wide road and drivers are passing super close. If you can’t pass safely, wait. This should be part of driver training because not enough people have common sense. Cyclists have as much right to use the road as anyone else.

Totally agree. I live on the west and as a driver, the way I see other drivers passing cyclists on the coast is ridiculous. I once saw a motorist pass a cyclist so close and with such speed that the wind shear alone rattled the cyclist almost knocking him to the ground.

Cyclists do not have as much right to use the road as anyone else. If its not licensed then it shouldn't be on the road.

Hon. Rymer this is why I am writing this. I wish to again bring to your attention that there are persons who are holding driver's licenses within the territory who have obtained them through fraudulent means. Here is how it works. These people are sold certificates of completion of written, cone, and road tests even though they have not taken the said tests (Some have paid between $500 and $1000 for these certificates of completion) The persons then take these certificates to the DMV where they go through the normal process of obtaining a drivers license. So how do these people obtain these certificates and how is the process so easily done? Sir, start internally then work your way to the persons who are resonsible to ceritify the completion of these tests. When I see accidents like these where perosns are injured I cannot keep quiet. Dont atke my words for it people out there know what I have written here is true and names are known. Thsi have been going on for a long time know but start with persons who have obtained there drivers licence within the last two years. Asked them the date they took their tests, who was the agent who ceritfied thier success and the name of the driving school they went with. I hope VINO will print this.

we are having hard times to get messy roads built so how can you even imagine having bikes lanes?.

Exactly, does anyone in charge on this Island ever use their brains? Why someone in charge never thought about this. You have bicycle riders, common sense should tell you a bicycle lane is needed.

At one point in my life, I enjoy riding my bicycle through Town with my helmet and gears, it was a fun way to get refreshing exercise, and meet people I hardly see on a regular, but I notice there are a few drivers who recklessly overtake you (some joking about it) to the point where they can knock you over and never bother to look back.
I also had a passion riding scooter responsibly around the BVI to clear my mind but again I concluded that the risk out weights the benefits. It appears and there is a perception that virtually everybody riding a scooter is a nuisance to the public, even if you are wearing your helmet and following the rules.
I do not know what happened here Noh am I judging the driver, but clearly there is no one educating the public about what to do when they see someone riding on a bike and what precautions to take to avoid knocking them over.

Tortola has become a lawless place when it comes driving on the public roads. Motorists believe they are invincible that they own the road by driving recklessly up and down and theu don't realized they have an obligation to other road users.

That is the norm here, that is why someone is always crashing their cars or their cars end up in the sea. People here make their own road rules. One stop right in front of me to talk to someone at the side of the road and when I honk my horn, the idiot had the nerve to try to curse me out because I am a woman and he think he could have scare me or something. When I open my mouth on him, he proceeded forward.

Many have TRIED to do that to me, stopping in front of me to have their CONVO AT THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THEN CALL ME THE B WORD WHEN I HONK MY HORN. I ALWAYS GIVE THEM A GOODDDDDD TONGUE LASHING. EVER HEARD A DRUNK SAILOR CURSE BEFORE? YOU WRONG, YOU WRONG.

One thing I need to say!!!!!!Police do the public a favor and stand by the roundabout in town, that is a disaster waiting to happen. Some drivers are totally ignorant or they don’t care with the speed they are on, cut off the traffic to get to the road heading to Virgin Queen or the old Flow turn.
WE NEED HELP BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT…

I'm just curious as to whether the bicycle was licensed for road use. If I remember correctly, bicycles are supposed to be registered and have a license plate mounted before using the public road. If this was a scooter you all would be singing a very different tune.

That has nothing to do with anything. Is all scooter riders registered and licensed to be out here on the Public Roads? I would take bicycle riders any day over scooter riders. Very few cars in Amsterdam, everyone ride bicycles In Amsterdam.

You really should consider going to school or taking some online courses in English and the use of grammar. Your blogs will be taken more seriously and your opinion might become respectable lol.

On Tortola the Blackburn and Drake's highways and the dual carriageway are too dangerous for bicycle riding due to the drivers decrease of driving skills and attention, the increase in the number, speed and size of the vehicles and the lack of police enforcement on these busy roads.

    Too many drivers lack concentration.
Too many drivers drive holding cell phones.
Too many drivers drive on video calls.
Too many drivers drive and text.
    The police need to intervene.
