Current VI curfew extended to Thursday, Nov 5, 2020

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The October 7, 2020, curfew order which allowed businesses to open from 05:00 am to midnight has been extended to Thursday, November 5, 2020, via a new curfew order (no. 36) of 2020, gazetted on Wednesday, October 21, 2020.

According to the Curfew Order, “A person may open and operate a business or establishment from the date this Order comes into force to Thursday, 5th November 2020 from 5:00 a.m. to 12:00 midnight daily," it said.

Businesses and establishments can open providing that they have been inspected and approved by the Social Distancing Monitoring Task Force and certified by the Environmental Health Division.

In addition, as with the previous curfew, no person shall be on the streets and must remain confined to their place of residence from the date this order comes into force until Thursday, November 5, 2020, between the hours of 12:01 a.m. to 4:59 a.m. daily, subject to a number of conditions. 

Approved businesses are expected to meet social distancing protocols and put in place the relevant sanitization measures, including ensuring that all customers and staff maintain physical distancing of no less than six feet.

Businesses must also ensure that that allowance is made for staff and employees to report to and leave work within the imposed hours and ferries are permitted to operate between the hours of 5:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. daily.

The Virgin Islands currently has one reported case of COVID-19.
