VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI – Information coming into Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) is that a COVID-19 outbreak has been reportedly confirmed at a construction work camp on Virgin Gorda (VG).

Sources told our news centre that the camp employs some 120 persons and so far, about 32 persons have since been tested and declared COVID-19 positive as of yesterday, September 24, 2021.

Following the positive cases, is being reported that local health authorities have undertaken a massive contact tracing exercise to bring the spread under control.

Staff attached to the company related to VINO that the camp is expecting more positive cases in the new week and have taken steps to temporarily close some of its construction sites where the cases were confirmed.

Workers told to isolate

Many of the workers have since been told to quarantine and isolate ahead of more testing to be rolled out.

Those in isolation are reportedly receiving groceries at the expense of the company, however, concerns are being raised about whether staff who are not working as a result of quarantine will be paid.

Fully vaccinated staff have also raised concerns about whether the company would cover their living expenses as a result of the temporary closures.

With some 46 active confirmed COVID-19 cases out of 61 total as of yesterday, September 24, 2021, VG currently leads with positive cases in the Virgin Islands.

Our news center will bring more information as it becomes available.

It is regrettable to hear, and now has been confirmed that a serious outbreak of covid-19 virus positive spike is on going in Virgin Gorda. Is a fact that anti-covid-19 virus protocol is not fully adhere to my many individuals and often groups of individuals. Many have decided come what may that they they will take their chances.
Many persons living in the B.V.I have left their fate in the hands of luck. Others have placed theirs in the hands of chance. Others have took vaccines jabs, while others have placed theirs in God. And others are confused as to what to do.
It is à fact the everyone will not come down with the covid-19 virus, but no know for sure who will. Because of this fact each person should be concern about themself, and their neighbour's wellbeing. But in the B.V.I this is saddle not the case
As I see it anti-covid-19 virus vaccines do have a favourable impact against the covid-19 virus. Many others see it differently. That tells me the magnitude of the of our current situation in reference to the covid-19 virus issue, among other harmful issues.
Knowing what I now know about our random mentalities on various that affect our daily lives negatively, I conclude that without God's Ovine guidance, the wood the we are now in will soon become a jungle, because of disunity, and the love for individualism. However, wisdom says to us fight on, because because if we fight on, way may survive as a people, if we don't, the covid-19 virus will mingle us in history dust speedily. "Winner don't quit fighting to win, because quitting is not an option. It was not one yesterday. It is not one this day nor will it be one in the future. But before the future comes, let presently us do whatever is possible to help protect our best interest now for us, our children, and Grand children's future.

      @ VG man:
Finger pointing and speaking evil of vaxxers will not change the fact that the overwhelming number of those that died worldwide, and the 37 nonvaxxers that died in the B.V.I is a myth.
Continue denying fact will not be able to fend off the deadly covid-19 virus pandemic from overwhelming the unprotected. It ok if you play a game of sports and lose the gsme, You will live to play again, if no deadly injuries accure, but the covid-19 virus is not a game of sport. It is s kejjer virus. Be careful, both actions and inactions could deadly. Ok VG man.

37 dead and over 5,000 recovered. Don't seem that deadly. For some reason nobody talks about the recoveries and those people who has the virus and fought it off naturally.

Seriously this doesn't matter. Covid is here to stay so it makes no difference in the grand scheme of things. Just get Vax, have Covid light and keep going. We are done with curfew and closing just keep the country open and let's just live.

Your continuing frail effors, nonvaxxers, of blaming vaxxers for the covid-19 virus outbreak, and it continuation is a hopeless denial of proven reality. Only
those that lack genuine science base knowledge will freely join with you in this baseless campaign, that leads to the destination of the dead. While the anti-covid-19 virus vaccines are not a perfect remedy against the covid-19 virus, they are overwhelmingly superior in comparison to you nonvaxxers gobble, gobble continuous ranting.
