COVID cases in VI spike to 95

- 62 local cases recorded; Bulk of active cases detected on Tortola

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The [British] Virgin Islands continues to experience a spike in COVID-19 cases, with the latest results revealing there are some 95 active cases.

There are four hospitalisations as a result of COVID-19.

According to the Territory’s Epidemiological Summary, 62 of the active cases are Local Cases, 20 were detected on Entry Screening Day 5, 4 on Entry Screening Day 0, 4 via Travel Screening and 5 being Contacts of Case.

The latest figures are the result of testing done on April 20 and reported on April 21, 2022.

Tortola has bulk of active cases

86 of the cases are on Tortola, 8 on Virgin Gorda and 1 on Jost van Dyke.

There were 42 active cases as of the previous update of April 14, 2022, and 19 as of April 7, 2022, update.

      Why are you guys blaming the government. Each and every time the minister for health spoke he keep saying we are not out of the woods yet and it’s becomes the punch line for every one. It’s every one responsibility to protect them self so we all can get out the woods.. set a selfish persons we are and blaming the government for what we all can somewhat control. How about putting a curfew in place don't you think ppl catch it at night clubs etc also when drunk and talking unmasked close up to others unmasked ppl.     Well, I guess I will have to start stocking up on goods now so I won't be in those crowds trying to shop last minute because we have to be outside on long lines distancing again.     Who cares? Nobody is sick. So what if the cases spike to 300? Why are we still counting? Why are we publishing these numbers in the news? All it doing is making BVI Xget blacklisted by other countries so their citizens cannot travel here. So our economy suffers. Shut the hell up about cases and stop using sensational words like spike. Did we used to publish the number of flu cases all the time before 2020? Number of herpes cases? Number of asthma cases? No. So what is the purpose of counting and publishing the number of cases now?serves no darned purpose at all!
