Corruption? NDP blames Hon Fraser, Biwater & jailed civil servants!

-Asks Honourable Andrew A. Fahie to be mindful of alleged “shaky ground from which he makes such baseless and horrific accusations”
The statement by the National Democratic Party (NDP) has failed to defend the administration’s record of the past three years and is yet to answer the corruption allegation made by former Education and Culture Minister and senior Virgin Islands Party (VIP) member, Hon. Andrew A. Fahie (left). Photo: VINO/File

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- After some three days since the popular First District Representative Honourable Andrew A. Fahie, in a report to his district and the people, accused the Dr The Honourable D. Orlando Smith-led three-year-old National Democratic Party (NDP) Administration of being the most corrupt in the modern Virgin Islands, a statement has been issued.

The response, which many described as weak, allusive and poorly written, was sent to selective media houses, excluding the number one media house- Virgin Islands News Online.

However, as usual, because many of their own supporters trust VINO, it was emailed to us immediately after it was sent to “the media outlets it was instructed to be dispatched to”.

The statement was in response to Hon Fahie’s scathing attack on the actions of the NDP when he spoke on January 24, 2015 at Capoon’s Bay on the Western end of Tortola.

As was firstly and accurately reported by this news site, the response was issued yesterday January 27, 2015. The statement has not defended the NDP Administration’s record of the past three years and it is yet to answer the corruption allegation made by the former Education and Culture Minister and senior Virgin Islands Party (VIP) member.

Is it Hon Fraser, Biwater & Sea Cows Bay Habour Project’s fault?!

While not telling the people why they are not corrupt according to Fahie’s notion, they instead attacked the Chairman of the Virgin Islands Party Honourable Julian Fraser RA, (R3) who many believe will be the next Premier of the 28 thousand population British Overseas Territory.

The statement claimed that Hon Fraser sent Biwater three million dollars ($3m) for a generator. Research done by this news site confirmed that this is yet another NDP lie. In fact, the BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) confirmed that they were the ones in 2010 that wired funds for the purchase of a generator in regards to obligations under the Biwater water purchase agreement.

However, the BVIEC Board requested that the funds be returned after the generator was not forthcoming in the time frame agreed and expected.

While avoiding answering the charge of corruption by Hon Fahie, the statement again attacked VIP boss Fraser, claiming that a project in his district saw work paid for but not done. In fact, again in this news site’s research, it was found to be very disingenuous. The Sea Cows Bay Habour Project, according to the Auditor General’s own report of 2014, saw some contractors being given mobilisation monies, but after the 2011 elections the same NDP regime stopped the project therefore the contractors were not able to fulfill their obligations under the contract.

We are not corrupt; civil servants went to jail under VIP!

Yet again avoiding answering the serious charge of corruption made against the unpopular NDP Administration, the statement engaged in its signature behavior of divisive politics. It said in the statement that “no Member of the Civil Service has ever been sent to jail under the National Democratic Party Government”.

This was a clear reference to three public officers who spent jail time for wrong doing, which could have happened regardless of which government was in power. Many residents saw this as divisive, unnecessary, inappropriate and more NDP gutter politics.

Still skillfully avoiding defending its own three-year record, the statement concluded with school house slogans warning that “those who live in Glass Houses should not throw stones”.

40 Years from now our kids will still be talking about it. The injustice that was done to our country will always be on our minds. Take a good look there are places in the Caribbean who are rich with resources and because of their government they are catching hell. Biwater deal is one of them.

    The VIP corruptions must be told the NDP is not corrupt only the VIP look what they did;

    - Kickbacks from mold contracts
-sexual harassment of staff by sucking them TT then sending them to school as hust hust
-sexual harassment of male/boys and traveling to meet them overseas on tax payers money
    - a range rover in exchange for a commitment letter
-Traveling for your private business to Fla and billing tax payers
-Taking your assistant grant to support your sister and help her start a business in FLA with direct interest for your corruption
-kickback on East End road to benefit yourself close to where you live costing millions and millions and no bid
-catering for we House of Assembly and BVI HAS law contracts which was never declared and is a conflict of interest i.e. corruption
-payment to yourself millions for a government water plant
    - asking civil servants to break the law ie, immigration laws but afraid to put it in writing and hiding being the PS and forced CEO to give your company the special treatment on spectrum
-paying your wife thousands of dollars to advise you which is a conflict of interest i.e. corruption
    - Kickbacks for your campaign through a T& T big name firm with no bid contracts
-Order chinies equipment where you have a direct interest in the company that place the order
-Use the tender process to lock out and shut out people who did not vote for you or you cannot obtain kickbacks from
    - continue to sit in Cabinet where you have conflict of interest with things that you have interest with and refused to declarer your interest with the Register General

You VIP spend 4 years in office and did all deeds tings and that is why you will never see the Administration complex again so Fraser and Fahie give it up bosses

Oh Lord I foget the ports project but NDP will fix that one good

I wonder when people will realize that all these "politicians" are all very good friends behind the scenes WITH THE SAME SELF-ISH AGENDA, and SAME CROOKED WAYS! It doesn't really matter who takes Government. The ONLY real difference between the two parties are that one's self-ish/personal agenda is different from the other's. Ever heard of the term "divide and conquer" ? I must say, both the "NDP and VIP" are masters of that technique! WAKE UP!
