Corruption fears ‘is a piss poor excuse’ against independence- Skelton-Cline

At least this is the perception of commentator and pastor Claude O. Skelton-Cline, who said the corruption fears are not necessarily consistent with reality.
Further, Skelton-Cline said some amount of corruption exists in every government and country on earth but suggested that it should not hinder one’s aspiration for self-determination.
“There is no place on the earth, any government on the earth, any country, nation, that has ever existed on the earth, where there wasn’t some percent of corruption.
“Show me that country and I’ll show you a place where nobody lives,” Skelton-Cline stated on his Honestly Speaking show on ZBVI 780 AM on September 9, 2025.
‘Piss poor excuse’
The commentator was at the time speaking about the importance of electing solid and competent leadership and made the case of the United States, where such was not done, and now the people are reaping the consequences.
It was at this point that he said he heard somebody “in his spirit’ say that is why the VI does not need independence.
“I don’t want to hear you using [it] as some piss poor excuse, talking about corruption, especially when other people make you believe and think that you are any more corrupt than they are, until you believe yourself that you feel you are corrupt for something that you haven’t even done.”
Many believe that the allegations of corruption against the Virgin Islands was a ploy by the United Kingdom to create a distrust in the VI people of their duly elected government and to action their plan of a takeover of the VI.

No more police meddling into investigation of corruption or vigilante killings or deals strike with drug Kartel for trans shipment of drug.
My church will get more relief funds from the government, John cline church too, did you say something about me? That I am not a man of the cloth? Shut up, in Detroit we say " ah want dah money bro" so let's g independence.
Moreever,,slavery abolished but slaves descendants are still conditioned to depend on others. They have no confidence in themselves or in other slave descendants. They trust others , eg, whites, etc., over their own. This lack of confidence, distrust, disunity, etc., is manifested in appeasement, meritorious manumission, etc.
The hard truth is that Virgin Islanders are hopefully conditioned to believe that they cannot pursue independence or other political statuses unless given the thumbs up by Mount Olympus. Physical slavery is supposedly history but we are still mentally dependent on others.
Further, the VI is no more corrupt than other locales. Nonetheless, it must work to minimize corruption..Furthermore,,we must skilllfuly fashioned our constitution, so that the VI can be effectively governed. Can the big developed countries lay claim to being corruption free? Not condoning corruption. Keeping things real.

Independence has nothing to do with corruption. It’s a fundamental human right that any people must pursue. I am not condoning corruption it MUST be addressed. BUT it has been used to create division among the people to serve an agenda. BUT God is still on the throne. Let’s stand strong BVIslansers and fight for what is rightfully ours. Our forefather and foremothers along with many did a great work with this blessed country and we must continue that journey. Our children and grandchildren deserve it. Shalom!
