CARROT BAY, Tortola, VI- East End resident Cornell Penn is the winner of the Antonio 'Tony' Martin Fisherman's Tournament held on August 7, 2025, as part of the Carrot Bay Cultural Fiesta 2025.

There were 4 officially registered participants for the tournament.

Mr Penn, on the Vessel Sam Kerry Boat 4, came in with the Biggest Overall Catch to clinch the trophy.

The total overall weight was 204 lbs.

Mr Penn and team pocketed a cash prize of $1,500.00.

The winning crew included Opposition Member Honourable Marlon A. Penn (R8), and Ivan Penn, aka 'Pompey'. 

Other winners

Legendary fisherman Smith Robin was also in the mix, winning the prize for Overall Biggest Fish. The fish weighed 17 lbs.

The crew of the vessel, Robin II, also included Phillip Robin. Their overall weight catch was 174 lbs.

The cash prize was $1,500.00.

The winner in the Women Angler category was Alison Fahie from the Vessel Flounder (Owner & Captain was Patrick Stout).

The total weight was 91 pounds and the cash prize was $500.00.

Special Fish

This year saw a category for Special Fish.

The Special Fish, a King Fish weighing 19 pounds, was reeled in by Franklyn Chinnery from Jost van Dyke in the Vessel Tango.

The King Fish is also a favourite of Honouree Antonio Martin aka 'Tony'.

The total catch of the day was 56 pounds and the cash prize was $1,000.00.

The Youngest Angler was 17-year-old Sterling Stout from the Vessel Flounder.

Mr Stout collected a cash prize of $500.00.

The aim of the Fishing Tournament Sub-Committee of the Carrot Bay Cultural Fiesta is to promote, develop, encourage and enhance continuous growth of the fishing industry in the Virgin Islands.
