Contract signed for works on VI Fire & Rescue Services HQ Tender Bay
The Tender Bay refers to the area where the fire trucks are housed.
The contract was awarded to Trojan Design and Development Limited, in the sum of one million, thirty-five thousand, three hundred and sixty-nine dollars and seventy-five cents, according to a press release from the Ministry for Communications and Works.
Project will see a number of facility improvements
The project on will see the improvement of the facilities and resources available to the Fire and Rescue Service. Key aspects of the project include, Housing (9 tenders), security enhancement, electronic operations of the gates, access control, drainage, design to include appending the new tender bay to the existing fire station and making good to all damages incurred during the construction process to the adjacent fire station, flood considerations, redressing of the permeter fence and training of personnel for use of specific equipment and commissioning of the main control system for the operation of the gates, cameras and access control systems.
Minister for Communications and Works, Honourable Kye M. Rymer (R5) said, “This initiative is part of a broader strategy to support the Fire and Rescue Service in its mission to protect the community and ensure public safety. The government remains committed to investing in the necessary infrastructure and equipment to enable the service to carry out its duties efficiently.”
This phase of enhancing and refurbishing the Fire Headquarters underscores the government's commitment to enhancing public safety and emergency response capabilities across the Territory, he said.
Although a date for completion was not revealed, the press release did say the project is expected to commence shortly.
