ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The college teams taking part in the Tropical Shoot Out began arriving in the Territory last night and some will be at practice today, Thursday December 19, 2013, in the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex.

Norville Carey and the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles will no doubt be adopted as the “home” team by fans here and under Coach Donnie Tyndall have a 9-1 record so far this season.

Carey is a rotational player coming in as 7th/8th man in normal conditions and has been working hard to get court time for the tournament that starts Friday. He has 9 of 17 from the field this season and 11 of 21 from the free throw line for the team that is ranked 27th overall in the current NCAA Rankings.

The Coppin State Eagles play in the Mid-Eastern Conference under Coach Ron Mitchell and are 4-5, but will be looking for big points from Sterling Smith, Teriq Caphas, Michael Murray and Arnold Fripp.

The University of Arkansas, Little Rock, play in the Sun Belt Conference and Coach Steve Shields will be looking to improve on the current record of 3-6. They are the second highest ranked NCAA team appearing this weekend at 161 and have some big players in Will Neighbour, Josh Hagin and James White.

Jackson State are 3-7 for 2013/14, but Coach Wayne Brent does have one of the highest scoring NCAA players in Julysees Nobles, who has already scored 171 points this season.

There are a whole host of players to watch out for in what is billed as “Fast and Furious” basketball. Event Co-Organiser, Keith “88” Malone is also expecting a lot of fun, entertainment and a competitive weekend and has urged basketball fans not to miss out.

Tickets go on sale today at $20 per night for downstairs seating and just $15 for the upper level.

why does everything have to be free ? an event of this magnitude costs a lot to put on so,be grateful its happening and reach a little deeper into your pocket- 20 or 15 dollars is nothing for two games a night when the same would cost you 40 plus for just one game in the usa.
