ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Collas Crill has appointed Ian Clark as Counsel and Celeste Aubee as Associate in its Virgin Islands office, enhancing the firm’s corporate practice.

Ian Clark

With more than 13 years of experience working as a funds and corporate lawyer for clients in Cayman, the Virgin Islands (VI) and Jersey, Ian was most recently based in Singapore.

He advises on VI and Cayman laws, with a practice focused on all aspects of fund formation, structuring, and ongoing maintenance. He also advises asset management clients on their regulatory obligations, including AML, data protection, FATCA/CRS and economic substance.

Ian has a particular interest in digital assets and has assisted managers in this sector with fund formation and related regulatory applications, the offshore law firm stated in a press release.

Celesete Aubee

Before joining Collas Crill, Celeste worked at international law firms in London and the VI where she gained experience in private equity, M&A and fundraising, as well as sustainable finance and regulatory compliance.

At Collas Crill, she advises clients on a broad range of corporate, regulatory and transactional matters in the VI.

Celeste was admitted to the VI Bar in 2024.

    ...another law firm with no local lawyers. Discrimination against local lawyers is just as prevelant in the offsgore industry as it is in the charter industry. Close the Bar!

      Work permits dont go through unless you apply through the goverment portal. I highly doubt local lawyers are going on the LMS to look for jobs.

      Of course not! Lawyer positions in these offshore law firms are essentially on an expat only basis.

    Offshore law firms demand 100% of your mind body and soul. Most locals are entrepreneurial and aren't willing to dedicate themselves in the way that offshore demands. But there are excellent examples of strong local talent like Shayna Smith, Omonike Pickering and Jerry Samuels who demonstrate that if you have a take no prisoners approach you can succeed. There will be racism, sexism and the old white boys culture but if you have the right attitude it can definitely be done.
