BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI – Honestly Speaking radio moderator Claude O. Skelton-Cline says he forecasts the final Commission of Inquiry (CoI) report coming out of the United Kingdom (UK) will be one that is ‘ugly.’

“The CoI is going to write a scathing report on the Virgin Islands (VI), and it ain't matter what party you are affiliated with. They are going to write a scathing report on the VI,” he said on the February 1, 2022, edition of his Honestly Speaking radio show.

The Final Report of the UK-sponsored CoI is due by April 2022.

Stringent recommendations to come – Skelton-Cline

“And in it, they are going to write some stringent recommendations and some attempt to force some issues and so let us not be sitting back paralysed waiting to see what happens,” he added.

Skelton-Cline added that based on what the UK has done in the past, he forecast that report will be an ‘ugly’ one coming out of the CoI on the VI.

“I do find it interesting that upon their return, the Minister for the Overseas territories went to parliament to indemnify those who carried out the CoI,” he said relating to the return of the CoI team to the UK.

He added that the British do not have a history of doing things accidentally, “I think they are concerned around what has been and continue to be our response to what transpired.”

“But I say all that to say this, this government and we as a people must never allow ourselves to be sitting ducks to anything.”

He called on locals in the VI to understand that the people in the VI are responsible for the VI and must be the ones who are accountable to the House.

VI must unite on singular issue

Meanwhile, Skelton-Cline called on the local politicians, ministerial and industry leaders to engage the media and the UK Parliament with an open letter that they agree on political advancement in the VI.

“We shall be free, and we together will do everything in our power to make political advancement and independence in this country," he added.

Skelton-Cline called for leaders to collaborate and have a singular effort via an open letter in regard to the pursuit of freedom and independence in the VI.

    Claude O. Skelton-Cline, We are sick of your stupid talk about independence not going to happen, only people like you are calling for independence. He called on locals in the VI to understand that the people in the VI are responsible for the VI and must be the ones who are accountable to the House< is this guy for real. The COI report is not about the people of the Virgin Islands it's about our corrupt governments' past and presents so my advice to you is to find a corner sit down and shut up.

    You should know Mr. CSK, as you did all that you could to see to that - didn,t you? Your behavior, actions and revelations regarding all of your dealings with the young government and behavioral conduct with the COI were despicable at best. Anyplace else and you would not be still allowed to be still talking trash publicly. You would be permanently banned from both facebook and twiter. So, go sitdown!!

    MR. CSC, we go INDEPENDENT, WE WILL BE SITTING DUCKS IN THE POND GETTING PICKED OFF ONE BY ONE. WE DON’T HAVE A MILITARY FORCE IN PLACE TO PROTECT US, CRIMINALS AND THEIR GANGS WILL RUN TERROR IN THIS PLACE, THERE WILL BE NO LAW AND ORDER, THE BVI IS NOT, I SHALL REPEAT IN NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM TO GO INDEPENDENT. MAYBE IN THE NEXT TWENTY OR THIRTY YEARS. DON’T ENCOURAGE THE PEOPLE TO OPEN PANDORAS BOX.

    your behaviour on your interview with coi was appalling , arrogant and did more damage to the BVI that any of the other " witnesses " put together. it was a shocking display of selfishness and foolishness..very self serving
