ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI– Talk show host and political activist Rosemary Cindy Rosan was on October 19, 2022, reportedly locked out of the Governor’s Press Conference for being some two minutes late, according to sources.

Rosan-Jones, who said she arrived 2 minutes past 11:00 am, was then forced to watch the press conference virtually, as the Governor shared updates on the Commission of Inquiry Quarterly Review.

Not allowed to enter press conference

In a telephone conversation with Virgin Islands News Online (VINO), Rosan pointed out that often the media would have to wait for press conferences to start and that she had reportedly informed the organisers in advance, of being tardy due to traffic conditions.

“I got there like two minutes late, and they wouldn’t let me into the press conference… I had actually said that I was running a little late,” she said.

Our newsroom can confirm that Ms Rosan had informed the Department of Information and Public Relations in advance that her arrival was delayed due to traffic issues.

Ms Rosan added that she tried to reason with "those in charge" but was still not allowed into the room, although she arrived just as the Governor was about to speak.

“I thought it was very strange… I don’t want to overreact but I kind of feel it’s the censoring of the media,” she added.

Rosan points to media censorship

The outspoken media personality said that another male staff had seen her plight and tried to get her into the room; however, this was prevented by the moderator who felt Rosan's entrance would disrupt the Governor and the press conference.

Ms Rosan in a Facebook comment remarked that it was sad to see the people of the VI 'facilitate their own demise' even as some official press conferences would start sometimes half an hour late and the media would have to wait and do so patiently.

“For the media to show up 2 minutes late and they can’t even come into the room… and then the continuous limiting of questions every week… what’s is the point?” she asked in reference to the Governor's limiting of questions to just two per media house in yesterday's press conference.

Who really cares? Be 2 minutes early next time! Why we want to be wrong and strong. This is someone who could not let her grievance be known to her fellow brethren but went to a whole court process instead? Entitled much ... the name Karen comes to mind. Next....

Cindy ‘Karen’ Rosan Jones is not media - she is just a loud mouth who craves publicity.

What happened with the legal proceedings she said that she had issued and served on Heritage? Heritage said that he had not been served. Who is telling the truth? One of them must be lying and I have my suspicions as to which one is the liar!

I don't hate Cindy, if she really wants to earn some real fame. Get a strong group and come out with a worker's union that will benefit the works. Cindy BVislanders is not getting employed because certain individuals have the arrogance to employ cheap labor from miles in Asia. paying them pennies... Please look for good issues and help to address it. Start a Union for workers.

Oh please, make up your minds people. Why we like to create problems were there is none. The young lady did her job. We complain when public servants do their jobs, we complain when they don't, you cant win with y'all. Late is late and the show must go on. be there early next time. utter garbage.

Not allowing you to enter and participate because of your tardiness does not amount to censoring. Stop overreacting. Traffic circumstances are not an excuse. You know what the traffic is like so be prepared and leave earlier. We are so used to the nonsense about "West Indian time" that we take it for granted. We need to make punctuality a part of our discipline. Other media houses were present and allowed to participate so how does censoring figure into the equation? I know you know better than that do not try to mislead people. Stop being so dramatic and see things for what they are. Remember, it's the Governor's press conference where the media are invited, not the media's.

I support Cindy on this one! No one plans to be late, but to use this instance to punish and silence a member of the press is shameful!

Cindy brings the fire and they all knows that. She is not afraid to ask tough questions and to be critical.

If it wasn’t for her questions we
Would not know the extent to which foreign agents have been assigned office jobs in the VI. Some agents have also been attached to the RVIPF.

Tell here call the airport and tell the pilot she running late and the plane shouldnt take off without her, where in the world does this entitlement come from. If she want's to "bring the fire" she can, but bring it before the confrence starts, instead of making excuses for the fact that you were late and playing the blame game. Grow the hell up.

What I am trying to figure out is why is Cindy using Tola Radio press pass when she is no longer part of the show. From the static her and Heritage had around Festival time and her filing papers on him you would wonder right?

I bet you if it was a white journalist they would have been treated differently. There was nothing wrong in them allowing her to sneak into the back of the room unobtrusively. After all the press conference was just about to start. This was deliberate because it is Cindy.

Expecting traffic or any other nonsense to be a valid excuse for tardiness and to complain on a public forum is called entitlement

Praise the lord you came to vino because Lord knows nobody going to your business page with 2 stories one like each Maybe you should spend more time developing your almost nonexistent media house, stop calling vino when you don't get your way and maybe your "business" will get some traction. NONSENSE.

It is the norm in the BVI, LATENESS. A job would terminate an employee for being late than being absent. You throw a gathering, you ask your guest to show up at 6:00 they show up 8:00.
    • @For Real (20/10/2022, 17:25) Like (7) Dislike (0) Reply
Not only lateness is the problem and the norm, they are invited somewhere, they show up empty handed. The ones with simple common sense would know what showing up empty handed mean.

I know exactly what you are saying. If I am invited anywhere IE.. baby shower, wedding, barbecue/family gathering I will not attend if I don’t have a gift for the host. The ones that show up empty handed is the ones that eat and drink the most. Also it is rude to start packing food to take away unless the host say it is ok to pack and take food away.

The question is, why was Cindy using/in possession of Tola Radio press pass. Why would you be using a business press pass if you are no longer involved with the business. I would agree, one of them is lying about the court papers that were filled. By her showing up late and refused entrance she drop the wrath on the Governor. It was not that serious girl.
