ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Students of Ciboney Centre for Excellence showed off their baking skills learnt when they copped two of the three top prizes at the Public Health Unit Cookie Bake-off yesterday, October 23, 2021.

The competition formed part of the Public Health Unit's Health and Wellness Fair at the Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park.

The bake-off focused on the health aspect of the recently observed World Food Day and participants were required to promote healthy prepared cookies.

The Winners!

Copping the first prize with his chewy gluten-free Oatmeal Chocolate chips and Coconut Cookie was Benjamin Moore of Ciboney Centre for Excellence. 

Seagrape Cookies, prepared by Kelly Rose Smith of Cedar School, came in at 2nd place while Apple Cinnamon Cookies by Ajanique George of Ciboney Centre For Excellence was 3rd.

DeShawn Doyley of Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS) received a special prize for his Oatmeal Coconut Cookies.

Pumpkin Spice Gluten Free Cake anyone?

Adult baking saw Priscilla Cupid taking home the prizes for her Pumpkin Spice Gluten Free Cake and her Mango Tart. 

The health fair, designed to promote healthy foods, healthy eating and good health-seeking behaviours, attracted a wide cross-section of entities, groups and individuals.

Several farmers from the Farmers Market were also present with local produce.
