CIBC donated $2.5K to BVIDA

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- In efforts to reaffirm its commitment to supporting community health initiatives, CIBC Caribbean presented the BVI Diabetes Association (BVIDA) with a $2,500 donation during its Staff Appreciation Week.

On May 15, 2025, the cheque was presented to Mrs Roselia James-Dawson, Resource Manager, Certified Diabetes Educator, BVIDA, by the Head of International Corporate Banking, Mrs Vernecia Holder. 

Mrs. Holder expressed the bank’s dedication to fostering healthier communities, 

“At CIBC Caribbean, we recognise the vital role of education and community support in addressing chronic diseases such as diabetes. We are honoured to contribute to the BVI Diabetes Association’s efforts to empower individuals with knowledge and resources to manage their health effectively,” Mrs Holder said, expressing CIBC’s dedication to fostering healthier communities. 

Mrs James-Dawson, meanwhile, extended the BVIDA’s gratitude to the bank for its generous support. 

“This donation will significantly enhance our outreach and education programs, allowing us to better serve those affected by diabetes in the British Virgin Islands. We are deeply grateful for CIBC Caribbean’s partnership in this important cause.”

Engaging & informative session on diabetes

A press release from CIBC Caribbean on June 4, 2025, said the donation brought to a close an engaging and informative session on diabetes prevention and management delivered by Nurse Magdelina Jean-Louis, DSc. H. Ed. 

During the session, the importance of healthy lifestyle choices, early detection, and effective management strategies for diabetes was emphasised.
