ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Quoting James 5:16 CSB, “The prayer of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect", the BVI Christian (BVICC) has announced it will be hosting the Annual Hurricane Supplication Service early next month.

BVICC stated in a press release on May 19, 2025, that- for the first time- the Council will be having two (2) services, one on Tortola and the other on Virgin Gorda.

The service on Tortola will take place Sunday, June 1, 2025, at 4:00 PM at the Apostolic Faith Church in Road Town.

The service on Virgin Gorda is set for Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 5:45 PM at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in the Valley.

Persons travelling from Tortola are encouraged to take Speedy’s Ferry from Beef Island at 4:30 PM and return on the 8:00 PM ferry.

They can also indicate that they are travelling with the "BVICC" to receive the reduced cost of $25.00 round trip. Additionally, ground transportation will be provided to and from the church at no additional cost.

'God has been merciful to us'- BVICC

"Everyone is invited to attend the services as we recall how merciful God has been to us in the past and spared us from the ravages of hurricanes and other natural disasters.

Once again, the National Hurricane Center predicted an active 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, so we invite all to come out and join the BVICC in prayers of intercession to God for safety and protection. Also, let us come together and pray for and with our brothers and sisters in the Caribbean and other places," BVICC stated.

Predictions released as of May 13 predict an above-normal number of named tropical systems, ranging from:

  • Named storms: 13-21

  • Hurricanes: 7-10

  • Major hurricanes: 3-5
