ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The BVI Christian Council (BVICC) has condemned the recent fatal shootings in the Virgin Islands, including the murder of a young man in broad daylight in Cappoons Bay on January 30, 2022.

Taking a stand against violence & Crime

In a 'letter to the territory' today, February 7, 2022, the BVICC reminded that Matthew 5:9 says ‘Blessed are the Peacemakers for they shall be called Sons of God’ and noted that we are “indeed” living in perilous times.

It said it is praying and believing God for the healing of the land from violence and crime.

“We, therefore, join with the Government of the Virgin Islands, taking a stand in opposing violence and crime against each other here in our beautiful territory.

Shootings ‘becoming one too many’- BVICC

“We speak out against the brutal shooting in broad daylight, of a young resident last Sunday, January 30, 2022, and the previous shooting of another young man in a famous night club right here in our territory.

“This is becoming one too many! We advocate peace in our territory and condemn violence and crime against humanity.”

The BVICC said it is the will of God that we all live in unity and peace and made a plea to “STOP THE VIOLENCE NOW!”

Condolences

The BVICC also sent condolences to the families who lost their loved ones to crime and violence recently.

Jaquan Thomas was the person shot to death in Cappoons Bay just over a week ago while army veteran Jaimez A. J. Stoutt, age 31, was fatally shot at a bar in Free Bottom on December 11, 2021.

“We pray God’s strength and comfort in this time of bereavement. You are in our prayers. We pray peace over our land as we call upon each resident to speak out against violence and crime in our communities.

“May God continue to heal these beautiful Virgin Islands,” the BVICC stated in the letter signed by President of the Council, Reverend Erflin A. M. Browne.

I don’t like fake people, Tortola is so darn small, you mean to tell me they are showing concern when one young man was killed almost two months ago and one was killed almost two weeks ago.

The Christian Council has lost its soul. It has sold out to Caesar. They need to analyse the social and cultural causes of what is happening and address them spiritually. The question is whether they have the knowledge base to deal with yhe problem. Too many of them are poorly if not qualified.

How come I never hear them condemn any Government past and present for all their wrongs..Isn't it written in the Bible where it says.." I didn't come to fight flesh and blood but spiritual wickedness in high and low places.".. Are they saying the haven't seen no spiritual wickedness in high place, they only seeing it in low places..?

So many bloggers calling the Christian Council fake. Well, well, some of you are the very criminals that committed the acts but now you dissing the Council for speaking about it. Turn in your family members, friends and colleagues who you know for a fact committed the acts and if you did it, turn yourself in and stop spewing venom at the wrong people.
