ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- With the Virgin Islands going to the polls on Monday, April 24, 2023, to elect its government for the next four years, the BVI Christian Council (BVICC) has called for intercessory prayers for the process and territory.

In a press statement today, April 21, 2023, the BVICC called on religious Ministers, Clergy and people for continuous intercessory prayers for the Virgin Islands and that God will grant wisdom to its leaders.

“We pray that our communities will be restored, families re-united and repair of these Virgin Islands. We pray that Jehovah God will rise up men and women who truly love and serve God as their Lord and Master to rule with love, respect and concern for the people of these Virgin Islands.”

Prayer for wisdom to make right choice on polling day

The BVICC is also praying that God will grant the people of the Virgin Islands wisdom to make the right choices to lead, as they proceed to the polls on Monday.

“I ask the believers and Clergy and Pastors everywhere to make God’s presence known in the middle of this darkness, confusion and despair. May the light of His glory shine forth. God of Unity give us love, hope, faith, truth, purity, peace, and kindness so You might be glorified through us. God of grace and God of Glory, on Your people pour Your power, for the facing of these dark days, that we fail not man nor YOU. Unite us in Jesus' name.

“Change lives, bring unity and stir Your people to be the image bearers of Jesus in this troubling Territory! We long for Your presence to permeate our culture and transform our nation. In Jesus Name,” the BVICC petitioned.

As an expat I love Jeremiah 29 vs 7. All should prayer for this territory. 1st Timothy 2 1-2 is also a good read.

Those who disliked your blog did not read the scriptures you listed. Guess they saw the word "ex-pat" and assumed it was something negative. Jeremiah 29 7 is basically saying to a person who is living in another country that is not their place of origin to pray for the good of that nation because if it prosper so would you and, if it suffers hard time so would you. The next scripture in Timothy amongst other things is saying to pray for those in authority etc.

I see no issue with any of Jeremiah's messages. His words are credible. As for Timothy (Paul)... now that is something else. You guys should also read 1st Timothy 6: 1-2 [about slavery].

Did the Christians put such ideas in the new testament to justify their own wickedness? We recently learned that they compiled a "slave's bible", so nothing is beyond them. Construct your own conclusions.

If pastors were not trying to divide the people of this country, they would have joined the Christian Council when it was formed. Instead they knew who were Christian’s and who were not :Now they have taken it over and do not have a clue why it was formed. This country would not have reached this sad level if they had join forces to keep our Christian values we held together. They did not know a Christian Councel had value. I pray that they will get it right and know the country needs the Christian Council.
