ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - For many women and a few men alike yesterday’s introduction to the line of clothing, accessories, shoes and bags was a shopping paradise. “Her stuff is different and that’s what makes her stand out,” said one customer as Chic Trends officially opened its doors to the general public yesterday afternoon, February 28, 2014.

“We have to take our hats off to her, hats off to her boyfriend who is 100% behind her with this, Hats off to Trade Department and hats off to all the people of the BVI, those visiting and those resident who are going to be supporting this business because this is one of our own, our OWN,” said another customer.

Chic Trends under the ownership and management of Ms Tekeisha K. Drew and her main partner Mr Danny F. Ferrol now has its place in the history books of the Virgin Islands and having been done, not by an already established businessman, but rather an emerging youth.

This was something that was underscored by City Manager Mrs Janice Brathwaite-Edwards who said, “It’s something that’s going to bring life to my city.”

At the simple launch yesterday evening Mrs Brathwaite-Edwards said that she recognized that a BVIslander had made an investment and she thought it was incumbent on her to assist that person to be best she could have. “They had already purchased the van, they had already designed the van, they had the van sitting in Florida and they didn’t know what else to do…So what I had to do was to facilitate that process for her…” noted the City Manager.

Most notable to Mrs. Brathwaite-Edwards was the fact that Ms Drew is a very young entrepreneur. “I thought that it was important that I assist her especially as she is a young entrepreneur.” The City Manager said that Ms Drew had proven to have a taste for a different quality of products that are of a high quality as she had exhibited this during the Christmas season of 2013.

“I saw it for Christmas, she came out and she invested in Christmas on Main Street,” noted the city manager.

Ms Drew on the other had been speechless yesterday afternoon as there was not space enough for her customers and supporters. “I am so thankful to God, my God this has finally happened for me and all I can say at this point is thank you God.”

Patrons were treated to light finger foods, drinks and entertainment as the celebrated the historic moment by to a greater extent delving into their pockets and shopping following the ceremonial prayer of dedication and cutting of the ribbon in the Sunny Caribee Parking lot.
