ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The current practice of having individuals serving on multiple statutory boards in the Virgin Islands (VI) will be reviewed, Premier Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) has suggested.

“I’ll be coming back to you soon to share the Government of National Unity’s approach to statutory boards because in several cases change is urgently needed in terms of their current composition and how we deal with appointments more generally, Dr Wheatley stated in a live broadcast to the territory on May 11, 2022.

“It is not good practice to have the same person sitting on multiple statutory boards and we will make the necessary changes in accordance with best practice.”

Change will be hard & painful- Dr Wheatley

Dr Wheatley said the National Unity Government is fully committed to good governance and will be making reforms accordingly.

“I want to remind everyone what I said before, change will be hard, it will be painful. People we know and care about will be affected; however, in the end it will be for the better.”

The Premier urged the territory to remain hopeful.

“We are at the beginning of our march to renew our democracy and build the Virgin Islands into the society that we all want. Together we can achieve whatever we put our minds to,” Dr Wheatley stated.

please put sensible people on these boards.we still have good people here in the bvi. look at the college board .is this what you intend to continue with?? you Mr Wheatley had your hand in the picking of board members. you even picked one that wanted and was actually trying to get rid of you when you was at the same hlscc.she couldn't do crap there and had to resign.she speaks the queen and American language so maybe that fool many. you had John first giving instructions to the president in a derogatory manner. facts because he run and lost so he thinks he has the power.but you Wheatley is who give him that power.he tried to walk on that lady who was there as president. shame on you.you fit another running mate as one vice president to bring news because that's what she's good at. serve no purpose in that college. if you guys think you have a long time in government please think again..do you guys really expect that Britain is going to sit back and allow the same bunch from the two parties that cause all this mess and allow you guys to continue well think again. we all have to be mental .

I am very entertained by this new sense of good governance. Or should I just say this new SENSE! Where were you and all these Ministers when the nonsense was happening? Sitting quietly afraid to speak up for fear of reprisal from the Premier? Surely, your collective might could have seen to it that these appointments were properly made regardless of his stance. Now all of a sudden you are the poster boy for good governance and leading the charge of getting things right? Well sah!

We have too many boards period...All ports Sea and Air can have one Board...All law enforce body can have one Board. Do some different to show real change. Advertise the proposed members in News paper for a month prior to appointment with a mechanism for concerns to be made of any member...Its got to be a different way going forward, or best Britain come in.

Please Mr.Premier, shake up the Social Security Board as urgently as you can . It is the Board that is actually running that Organization seemingly due to incompetence of senior management. Remove all of Andrew Fahie’s cronies from there (urgently). If he hadn’t gotten in trouble, the VIP would have gone with another $50 million in grant
from our tax money; all because he had in cronies in place to have the majority vote.

Remove from the Director up to the Board members. The Chairman and two doctors can stay but everybody else are Andrew cronies who have the Board in a mess.

Am I missing something? Isn't it the governor's responsibility to carry out the COI's recommendations? So, what is Wheatley talking about?

Mr. Wheatley, While we are on that topic of Statutory bodies, pleaseeeee BVIHSA needs a serious overhaul, overview & an internal forensic audit on the embezzlement of funds the former Ghetto Diva swindled from the Authority along with her goons. That Board needs to be dissolved & reorganize with new eyes, new approach & a new mindset!! We need Leaders with INTEGRITY who behaves ETHICALLY & does the right things behind closed doors, 1 who lives by PRINCIPLE when they are given POWER & treat lower class employees with RESPECT!! The current ones are toxic & cause emotional stress!!
