WEST END, Tortola, VI- Chad C. George, a resident of the First District, is entering the political arena once again as he has confirmed his intention to run in the upcoming general elections in the Virgin Islands.

Mr George announced his decision during an interview with Virgin Islands News Online on Monday, May 25, 2026. He indicated, however, that he will not be contesting the elections as an independent candidate this time.

New party

While he did not disclose the name of the party he will be representing, Mr George mentioned that it is a "new party" that will be launched soon.

In the last general elections in the Virgin Islands, Mr George ran for the First District seat as an independent candidate, but lost to incumbent Dr the Hon Karl Dawson of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP).

Mr George informed our News Centre that he will share his plans and aspirations for District One following the launch of the new party.

In the meantime, George has been publicly voicing his opinion on various issues affecting the territory.

Get to know someone first before you say things publicly to bring down someone character. He did nothing to you and he is genuine person.

Try holding a conversation with him.

Hoping to ride with the HC influence by joining the barge party who benefited from HC. His integrity is now in question. You are known by the company you keep Chad. Reevaluate your alliance young man. This is a slippery slope you are on.

That means all VIP members integrity are in question, because the HC was the head of that party and Karl won the first district off the HC strength.

As selectively present our current district rep is he is absent and oblivious to the livelihood of our district. Persons like the rest of the Virgin Islands, while living in a “free flow” area from our “New” reservoirs have not been able to get water in months! Our school grounds which housed a primary school and Community Center turned into a Dumping Site! Very school our current minister for Education attended. Our fishermen and farmers are still waiting on better economic opportunities same fishermen today shackled for performing their trade by men who can’t swim in their depths. No improvements to our Parks.

Mr. Dawson is a polite person with a caring smile but where has he been really? West End Dock? Cappons Bay shoreline? Carrot Bay shoreline? The back roads? Lighting throughout the district?

We commend the beautification project that was implemented by Hon. Mrs Lorna Smith throughout the territory and further funded by BVI Tourist Board under Luce our main road ways are up-kept s/o Chainsaw and Crew. He once held the Jr. ministry responsible for Agriculture and fisheries, one would think with a district who’s known for both would have benefited! Ha!

We once had a district rep who only saw a few, who paid credit cards and funded trips and played the Organ well someone who acted like he cared every 3yrs so he could be re-elected in the yr 4, someone who divided a district and left us embarrassed, neglected and forgotten.. Chad may not be everyone’s choice and that’s okay it’s time the first District be released from the shackles of the VIP! Let’s try something different. We get too caught up in this popularity contests that our people continue to suffer. Distracted by the misunderstandings of Power. They question the All 13 alleged party funders but do you really want to get into that topic party to party ? I challenge a journalist to list each political party funders and let’s compare! Virgin Islands voters we have the Power stop with this party politics and choose for a better future for these Virgin Islands!

So did they own the other party they “paid to run in the past”? Campaigns cost money to run and that’s where campaign donors come in they “pay” our politicians way to get them elected! Their monies goes towards radio ads, billboards , Graphic Designers, Apparel printery, food drives and community outreach initiatives, gas stations, Supermarkets rental companies, legal services, administrative services campaign managers etc so yes The barge owners like every other party donor contribute to the cost of a politician campaign something they did for the VIP also!

VIP, NDP, All13, PLM, all of them are holding one head. They are just popping up on the news to confuse the public. So to avoid confusion, I will not be going to the polls to vote for any of them or just leave the VIP in power and call it George. At the end of the day, all of them are one.

@ mm. I like your analogy. You couldn’t have said it in a more truthful way. The VIP have a strong grassroots base in D1 especially in Carrot Bay and it is very hard to convince these people and lead them out of green pastures. Old, middle aged and young alike have all been indoctrinated into the fallacy so they don’t see, hear or believe in no one else except the person who is on the green team.

Many have an unrealistic expectation of the government. The government cannot improve the financial situation for the majority of the private sector. Example persons that work for supermarkets, small businesses, restaurants etc. Many of those type of business cannot give the majority of their workers a significant raise because that would require them to increase they revenues by raising price on goods and services which would increase cost of living.

So if I get a raise but things have gotten more expensive my financial situation probably might not be any better than it was with the lower wages but things being less expensive. For this reason governments have to be caution about increasing minimum wage. A good a government may find ways to increase the government's revenues, which can translate to doing more projects, paying back loans faster, increasing civil servants salaries. Then they can implement policies try and change the way we do thing for better or for worst.

But I believe when people complain about the government it's because they are not happy with they financial situation and sadly for the majority no government cannot solve that. At least not the way the world operates.
