Chad C. George contesting D1 as Independent Candidate
Mr Chad C. George announced his decision today, February 17, 2023, and noted that he would be an Independent Candidate.
In a press release, Mr George was described as being no stranger to the First District, and known for his passion for standing up and fighting for what he believes in.
“Chad C. George has taken up the mantle and has decided to contest this year's upcoming General Election as an Independent Candidate in the First District,” the press release stated.
It also said Mr George was raised in Carrot Bay by his mother and grand parents, and that he knows the meaning of family and togetherness, and with that strength and unity he will achieve all that is needed to propel the district forward.
Mr George, according to the release, attended the Isabella Morris Primary School, then the BVI High School, where he was Head Boy in his senior year. He later went on to attend HLSCC and transferred to Norfolk State University where he attained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business with a concentration in Finance (Cumme Laude).
Upon his return to the VI from college, Mr George worked in the Private Sector, holding various positions within the Financial Services Industry, including his current position as an Approved Compliance Officer/Money Laundering Reporting Officer.
‘The man you know’
“Being a man of the people for the people, Chad has assisted and helped various individuals in the District wherever he could, no matter their age. He has now decided to make this a full-time commitment and dedicate himself to public service, to further develop the First District. He knows that it will not be easy, but together the First District can and will be the what we all know it can be - “Great”.
“With a mindset of we are only as strong as our weakest link, every village and person in the first district will be attended to equally to ensure the strength of the entire District,” the release stated.
It is unclear who else will be contesting the First District, although Shaina M. Smith of Progressive Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM) has done so in the pass without success.
The Virgin Islands Party (VIP) is yet to ratify the candidate for the First District, which has been without an elected Representative following the arrest and subsequent retirement of former Premier Andrew A. Fahie.
“This is our District and Our Future, so come Election Day 2023, Vote Chad C George - a man of the District who is committed to our community for a better Virgin Islands, Vote Chad C George The Man You Know,’” the press release stated.
