CGB man found with $136K to stand trial July 11
Leon King is facing one count of acquisition, possession or use of proceeds of criminal conduct charge.
The 31 year-old landed in trouble after police observed him on January 24, 2012 around 2:25 p.m. travelling in and exiting a small vessel “Overeasy” close to the Frenchman’s Cay bridge on the western end of the island of Tortola.
The boat was searched and a black bag containing over $136,000 was found. He was the sole occupant of the vessel.
He is currently on bail - $40,000 cash and $160,000 signed surety, and is represented by Herbert McKenzie.
Meanwhile, Senior Magistrate Valerie Stephens has extended the Crown’s application to hold the money until trial.
