CASTRIES, Saint Lucia- A 40-year-old Castries man has been charged with murder in connection with the death of 21-year-old Merissa Auguste, whose body was found along the Millennium Highway earlier this month.
CASTRIES, Saint Lucia- A 40-year-old Castries man has been charged with murder in connection with the death of 21-year-old Merissa Auguste, whose body was found along the Millennium Highway earlier this month.
The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force said Vianney Lubrin of La Croix Maingot, Castries, was formally charged with murder following an investigation by the Major Crimes Unit.
He subsequently appeared before the First District Court and was remanded in custody until October 6, 2026.
Auguste had been reported missing before her partially decomposed body was discovered in an area along the Millennium Highway on September 11.
A post-mortem examination determined that the cause of death was strangulation, according to police.
Although Lubrin has been charged, police said the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Auguste’s death is continuing.
