ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI– Gospel and reggae rock legend Carlene Davis filled the air with live music at the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) final rally held in the parking lot near One Stop Mall in Road Town on Saturday, April 22, 2023.

Delivering an electrifying gospel performance with other hits like ‘Nothing but the Blood of Jesus, One Day at a Time, Behold He Comes and Walking on the King's Highway, Davis' familiar voice and well-known songs meant the audience was able to sing along.

Ms Davis of Jamaica also performed a gospel version of the lover’s rock hit ‘Stealing Love on the Side,” while reminding the audience that there’s never a time when there is not a need for Jesus.

As the evening progressed, she delivered a short sermon while inviting the Premier, Dr the Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) and the rest of the VIP’s 2023 elections candidates.

Candidate held hands to a rendition of One Love

The candidates, as well as the entire audience, were told to hold hands while she delivered a cover of Bob Marley’s “One Love” to close out the performance.

Meanwhile, Premier Wheatley said bringing Ms Davis to the Virgin Islands came as part of a decision to go full gospel for the 2023 campaign.

He said once that decision was made, everything fell into place.

“What we have is more than just a VIP rally, what we have is a redemption rally," he said.

The over 5-hour long event also featured performances by Brent D. Hoyte and Oneyke, backed by the High-Frequency Band.
