“They are looking at the Caribbean and seeing what we have down here because the majority of these artistes when you hear they speak they speaking from the Caribbean so the Caribbean is now an open pot where persons see have lots of potential for artistes for the big stage,” said Mr. Lake at a press conference on February 8, 2012 at the Moorings.

According to Mr. Lake, the four labels will be to coming to assess Travis Walters, who will be headlining the show, as well as the other performers.

These individuals include Devyne Stephens, who is an American Record Executive and musician; Kevin Hall, an executive Vice President of Creative at Universal Music Group; Aaron Schuck, who is the Director of A&R at Atlantic Records and Shawn Holiday, who is the senior Vice-president of Interscope.

“The labels are coming, they picked up on the invitation without hesitance,” Mr. Lake said while adding that more wanted to come but FTM could not accommodate all of them but hopes that the four who will be coming would be impressed and return to the United States to spread the word about VI talent.

“This year we also have four important labels, who are going to be present to tell us what they are looking for and assess the artistes that we have in the BVI, those on the show and even those that didn’t make it.”

Meanwhile, the other guest artistes accompanying Walters would be Verse Simmons, who is known for his hit single “Boo Thang”, and Rock City out of the US Virgin Islands.

“We brought back Rock City this year so that they can tell us as a country how is it working with Travis. All of Travis’ songs were written by Rock City and they were doing a lot of work with Travis so we can get a feed back from them on how he has been faring on the international front,” Mr. Lake said.

The Follow the Movement (FTM) 5th Annual Top 7 @7 Music Award Show is slated for March 3 at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex.
