ST. JOHN'S, Antigua- Caribbean health leaders are meeting in St. John’s this week to strengthen regional preparedness for public health emergencies.

The workshop, hosted at Jolly Beach Hotel, brings together officials from Grenada, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Lucia, Haiti, and Antigua and Barbuda. It is coordinated by the Ministry of Health, CARPHA, and the UK Public Health Rapid Support Team.

Permanent Secretary Colin O’Keiffe stressed the importance of better data use to guide timely decision-making, while CARPHA’s Chatoyer Bobb highlighted the region’s vulnerability to pandemics, disasters, and emerging diseases. He noted that regional cooperation is essential to building resilience.

Over the coming days, delegates will share expertise and devise strategies to strengthen the Caribbean’s ability to respond to future crises.
