‘Cannon’ & ‘Passion’ laid to rest this morning April 7, 2018

Our newsroom attended two, that of a former retired civil servant, David E. Fahie aka ‘Cannon’ and murder victim Trumayne J. Daway aka ‘Passion.’
The late Fahie's funeral service was held at the New Testament Church of God, located in Baughers Bay on the main island of Tortola. Many paid their respects including Sixth District Representative Hon Alvera Maduro-Caines and Opposition Member Hon Julian Fraser RA, (R3) and political candidate Julian Willock, a longtime friend of Mr Fahie who also read a scripture.
The Eulogy was read by former Legislator, Mr Elmore Stoutt OBE who remembered the deceased as a good man, genuine and loved sports and fishing. Stoutt who is both his family and friend said, “Cannon was a great lover of music, although he was not known to play an instrument other than his voice, he could capture you with his golden voice.”
"Make it right while you alive"- Jasen D. Fahie, son
The sermonette was done by his eldest son Jasen who made a call for the congregation to make it right while we are alive while asking for prayers for his family.
The late Mr Fahie who was 68 years of age is survived by his wife Linnet E. Fahie, two sons Jasen and Javen Fahie and a daughter Sheila Stanley. The interment was at the Johnson Ghut Cemetery a few feet from where he lived.
Trumayne J. Daway
It was also a sad morning for the family and friends of the late Trumayne J. Daway. His funeral service was held at the same time as Mr Fahie at the Road Town Anglican Church. Many young people came out to pay their tributes decked out in their T-shirts with his picture.
Many cried openly as young 27-year-old ‘Passion’ was given a great send off. The Virgin Islander was murdered on February 28, 2018, and police have since charged three with his death.
In her tribute, Hon Maduro-Caines noted that her own mother used to babysit the late Daway and after years both Hon Maduro-Caines and him had a bond. The Sixth District Representative further stated, “He would come to my house early in the morning before going to work at Solid Waste with my nephew. I would always make sure they had breakfast or money to buy it..”
The late Daway's final resting place was at the Johnson’s Ghut Cemetery, on Tortola.
