Cannabis license applications open across USVI

FREDERIKSTED, St Croix, USVI: Applications are now open for several cannabis license categories across the territory, with qualified individuals and businesses given until September 15, 2026, to submit their materials through the [US] VI Office of Cannabis Regulation’s online licensing portal.

The available licenses differ by island. On St Croix, applications are being accepted for cultivation, manufacturing and dispensary licenses.

Applicants on St Thomas and St John may seek cultivation and manufacturing licenses.

Micro-cultivation and research and development licenses are available territory-wide.

OCR said the application cycle provides qualified individuals and businesses with an opportunity to participate in the continued development of the [US] Virgin Islands cannabis industry.

Applications must be filed online through the licensing portal available on OCR’s website at ocr.vi.gov.

Prospective applicants are being encouraged to review the requirements for the available license categories and complete their submissions before the September 15 deadline.

Individuals requiring assistance or additional information may contact OCR at info.ocr@ocr.vi.gov or 340-714-9755.

The office said it will continue working with applicants as the territory develops its regulated cannabis program.

    Whatever happened to the medical marijuana bill passed in the HoA? Is UK-appointed Governor Daniel Pruce still withholding assent? Pure hypocrisy. The last time the UK monarch refused to give assent to a bill passed by Parliament was on March 11, 1708, under Queen Anne. Nevertheless, UK reps exert dictatorial, unilateral, etc, power over bills passed by the duly elected HoA, expressing and enforcing their personal views. It is might makes right. Subjects need to do what massa says, not what he does.

      @ Norris Turnbull, there are over 500 grades of cannabis or marijuana . The type that is commonly used in the BVI has high THC and has a psychoactive effect on users, ie getting high. May I say that cannabis use is illegal in the BVI..Nontheless, the bill passed by the HoA is a medical marijuana bill; it has low THC. It is not for getting high. The school say that the UK is a major exporter of medical marijuana, though its use is highly restrictive in the UK.

    That is why your kids and grand kids will continue to visit drug dealers putting their life at risk to buy herb from who have white and you don't know if they put crack in the weed. BVI is az
