Calls mount for UK PM to resign over Downing St. Christmas party

Ian Blackford, the Scottish National Party's most senior member of Parliament, said that the "only right and moral choice left" for Johnson is to quit amidst the latest scandal under the Johnson Government.
Resign or be removed - Blackford to Johnson
"Trust in leadership is a matter of life and death. Downing Street willfully broke the rules and mocked the sacrifices we have all made, shattering the public's trust," Blackford said in Parliament on Wednesday.
If Johnson does not resign, Blackford said, "he must be removed."
Adding to calls for his resignation was former Chair of the Conservatives, Baroness Sayeeda H. Warsi, who said every employee who was at the Christmas party should resign, "no ifs, no buts".
Asked by the BBC about the party, Foreign Secretary Elizabeth M. Truss said: "I don't know the detail of what happened," however, Downing Street continues to insist no party took place.
A source previously confirmed to the BBC that a party did take place there on 18 December, 2020 with "several dozen" people in attendance.
Johnson set rules then allegedly broke them
At the time of the party, the Johnson government's coronavirus guidance specifically stated that people should not have Christmas parties - and gatherings in London of two or more people indoors were banned unless they were "reasonably necessary" for work.
Mr Johnson announced that strict lockdown rules would be in place over Christmas for parts of England, meaning many could not see relatives during the festive period.
