Cabinet approves a new Financial Comptroller for BVIHSA
“The Minister of Health and Social Development Hon. Dancia Penn, OBE, QC has confirmed that the Cabinet approved the appointment of Lilimay Lettsome-Carlton as acting Financial Comptroller,” the release added.
Mrs. Lettsome-Carlton, who previously served as the Health Services Authority’s Financial Accountant, recently returned from pursuing an Association of Chartered Certified Accountants Professional Qualification in the United Kingdom and had performed the duties of Financial Comptroller for over eight months in 2009.
In addition, she has a combined Civil Service and BVI Health Services Authority experience of over twenty years.
Prior to Mrs. Lettsome-Carlton’s appointment, Ursula Wilson held the post on contract from July 2009 to August 2011. Mrs. Wilson, whose appointment was given an extra two-month extension in order to complete pending financial documents, has now ended her service to the Health Services Authority effective 31, October 2011.
The Minister also announced the reappointment of Dr. Ronald Georges as acting Chief Executive Officer of the BVI Health Services Authority, which also took effect on November 1, 2011. Dr. Georges had previously been seconded from the Ministry of Health and Social Development to the BVI Health Services Authority to act as CEO from August 2008 to May 2011.
During the period of June 2011 to October 2011, Mrs. Wilson also performed the duties of Chief Executive Officer of the BVI Health Services Authority.
Hon. Penn said that “On behalf of the Government of the Virgin Islands, I would like to thank Mrs. Wilson for the valuable contribution she has made towards development of the health services. At this time, we continue to move the BVI Health Services Authority towards improvement and positive growth.”
Appointments to top management positions in the British Virgin Islands Health Services Authority are approved by Cabinet in accordance with the provisions of Section 8 of the British Virgin Islands Health Services Authority Act, 2005.
