Cabinet approves 1-year contract for Lisa Penn Lettsome as CRC Chair

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Chair of the Constitutional Review Commission (CRC) Mrs Lisa Penn-Lettsome will serve in the post on a 1-year contract with a possible maximum 6-month extension.

Cabinet, during a Special Meeting on September 30, 2022, decided that Penn-Lettsome be appointed on contract to serve as the CRC Chair with effect from October 1, 2022, until July 7, 2023.

This is according to the Cabinet Post Meeting Statement published on October 13, 2022.

Cabinet also decided that a maximum extension of six (6) months, from July 8, 2023, may be granted to Mrs Penn-Lettsome, pending the conclusion of the Constitutional Review process.

The Special Cabinet Meeting, held at Financial Services Commission’s Resource Centre, Jones Building, was chaired by His Excellency, the Governor Mr John J. Rankin, CMG.

All Members were present, with the exception of the Minister for Health and Social Development, who was overseas on official travel.

Constitutional Review

It was agreed between colonial power the United Kingdom (UK) and the Virgin Islands (VI) that after every 10 years there will be a review of the VI Constitution.

The last review of the VI Constitution took place around 2006, leading to the Constitutional Order of 2007.

The forthcoming Constitutional Review will consider the aspirations and changes the people of the Virgin Islands wish to see in the next constitution.

      She is neither of the above. She is highly overrated and very difficult to deal with. She is not the right choice for this role nor will she be able to represent the BVI in the way we deserve! This is not a good move for us BVI not at all!!!

    This lady is not the one for the job, she is a know it all who knows nothing. Hit the drawing board again there will be no result good for the BVI at the end of this term! Mark my words!

    We still recycling people based on last name? What is her qualifications? Just because she is a lawyer does not mean her strengths are constitutional law. Oh boy… I don’t agree with this choice at all!
