ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – With 'elections season' fast approaching, the Cabinet of the Virgin Islands has reviewed and accepted recommendations for the awarding of contracts for Elections Systems and Software.

In the meeting chaired by Governor John J. Rankin, CMG, and attended by all cabinet members on May 25, 2022, Cabinet reviewed and accepted the Evaluation Report submitted by the Central Tenders Board (CTB) Technical Committee, which was approved by the CTB on April 26, 2022.

The Cabinet then accepted the CTB’s recommendation to award Election Systems & Software 'the contract' for the ‘Provision of Voter Registration and Elections Management System in the [British] Virgin Islands’ in the amount of $40,500.00 in year one.

An additional $30,500 was accepted, for four years with a decision that the Deputy Governor's Office instruct the Attorney General’s Chambers to vet the relevant agreement.

Proposals invited in February

Back in February 2022, the Government of the Virgin Islands invited proposals for the provision of a Voter Registration and Election Management System.

The tender invitation details that the system should be expandable and scalable to allow the Office of the Supervisor of Elections to perform tasks and operations associated with holding an election that include but are not limited to: (a) voter registration, election project management, ballot style creation, absentee voting and tracking.

Other requirements included election worker management, interfaces with e-poll books and ds200 scanners, voter information portal, campaign financing, and election night reporting.

We hope not to long from now ( in a few years) this topic issue will be organised, funded, and hanpped. But we should not get ahead of our most needed political responsibility. Our most current political responsibility is to fulfill the CoI 48 recommendations under Governor John J. Rankin leadership without fail.
Good governance in the BVI for all our people is in our best interest. Let us keep our priority in order, please.
Governor John J. Rankin is not bluffing. He is very serious, and his main intention is to fully comply with the duty that he was appointed to do

This is a true. Don't rush the brush, or you may get darned (painted).
We are not any worst that the rest of the world, politically speaking, but it is not too lt is not too late for us. Let agree to love and treat each others fairly, Spiritually, socially, physically, and emotionally, regardless of gender, ethnicity, place of birth for a better future for all our people and others that will come to visit, and will live among us.
Like us all learn this lesson well: "Wilson is better than silver and gold."
May God by the mercy of His grace bless our good effort to repent of daily, shameful, evil actions, and evi words against our fellow humans.
