The Jamaicans came out in the second segment with a different game plan to face their rivals. After making the first substitution in the game the young Reggae Boyz gathered momentum and in the 69th minute Donja Ojay Smith placed his team back into the game.
This 2-1 score line motivated the Jamaicans to apply pressure to their opponents and this effort paid off in the dying moments of the game when Junior Flemings converted a free kick into a 90 plus minute goal to end the game 2-2. Five Caribbean teams, affiliates of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) namely Jamaica, Aruba, Haiti, Trinidad & Tobago and Cuba, along with CONCACAF teams Honduras, Canada, El Salvador, USA, Mexico, Panama and Guatemala, are vying for the title which is being defended by Mexico.

The top team from each group, after round-robin play, will advance to the World Cup, while the second- and third-place teams from each group will advance to the final-day knockout phase with the chance to battle for one of a pair of play-off matches which will determine CONCACAF's other two World Cup berths.
