ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The British Virgin Islands Tourist Board & Film Commission (BVITBFC) has announced the transition of its “Caribbean & Local Pages” on Facebook and Instagram into the organisation’s official corporate social media channels. According to the Tourist Board, this shift strengthens how the Board communicates with residents, industry partners, and community stakeholders, ensuring clearer separation between corporate information and global consumer travel content.

“These new corporate-facing pages will allow us to share timely updates, highlight local tourism initiatives, and provide our industry partners with accurate information directly from the source,” said Natasha J. Chalwell, Deputy Director of Tourism.

“Meanwhile, our official BVI brand pages will continue to inspire travellers worldwide with the stories, imagery, and experiences that make the Territory so extraordinary.”

The newly designated corporate platforms will now serve as the primary hub for:

• Official announcements and statements

• Tourism industry updates and stakeholder notices

• Training opportunities, workshops, and community tourism programmes

• Service advisories, emergency information, and operational updates

• Highlights of local tourism partners and tourism initiatives

Residents and industry partners are encouraged to follow these corporate pages to stay connected with developments across the Territory’s tourism and film sectors.

Visitors seeking trip-planning information and destination inspiration can continue to follow the official global brand channels: @BritishVirginIs, which showcase the BVI’s natural beauty, vibrant culture, and world-renowned sailing experiences. The transition supports BVITBFC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its digital presence.

In 2025, the Board also introduced the MindTrip AI platform on the official destination website (www.bvitourism.com) — a significant enhancement that modernised the visitor experience and positioned the VI at the forefront of innovative destination engagement.

A 2025 social media audit further underscored the importance of consolidating pages to reduce fragmentation, eliminate confusion, and present a 'unified Brand BVI' across all platforms.

“This transition helps us deliver clearer, more consistent communication while allowing our brand channels to remain sharply focused on inspiring global audiences,” Chalwell added. “It is an important step in ensuring our digital platforms continue to evolve with the needs of our community and the expectations of today’s traveller.”
