Controversy in BVITB
There continue to be reports of many controversial developments in the BVITB.
This news centre reported on September 14, 2023, that the BVI Welcome Desk at Cyril E. King Airport on St Thomas, US Virgin Islands (USVI) is expected to close effective December 1, 2023.
There is also a help desk operated by the BVI Tourist Board at the Wilmoth Blyden Ferry Terminal on the St Thomas waterfront.
There are also reports that the help desk at Cane Garden Bay will be closed this year, as another cost saving measure.
It is unclear the cost of the operations or how much savings the BVI Tourist Board will realise from the various welcome/help desk closures.
Recently, the BVITB fired one of its staff members for alleged insubordination and reportedly having a second job when she should have been working from home.
Additionally, unconfirmed reports are that Board Members recently attempted to remove the Chairperson of the Board of BVITB but failed since the position is a Cabinet appointment.
