PORT PURCELL, Tortola, VI- The British Virgin Islands Ports Authority (BVIPA) is reporting that discussions have begun to incorporate solar energy into its operations, as part of a strategic effort towards modern, resilient, and environmentally responsible port development.

According to BVIPA, there was a recent engagement with Ethan James from Green Energy Management (GEM), along with key national stakeholders, including the BVI Electricity Corporation, the Water and Sewerage Department, and the Waste Management Department. 

BVIPA emphasised, “This is a clear demonstration that sustainable progress is best achieved through collaboration.” 

BVIPA further stated that it continues to lead the way in exploring solutions that enhance resilience, reduce environmental impact, and support the long-term development of the port in the Virgin Islands.
