BVIPA approves new ferry operator for roundtrip to USVI

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – A new ferry operator has been approved by local regulators to offer passenger services between the Virgin Islands and the US Virgin Islands (USVI).

Aquatic Rentals has been approved with two daily roundtrip services between Road Town, Tortola and Red Hook, St Thomas.

“The British Virgin Islands Ports Authority (BVIPA) would like to notify the public of the approval of a new ferry operator and route for international ferry passenger operations, the BVIPA stated in a press release on March 2, 2022.

According to reports, the vessel is named ‘Sea Express 1’.

For information on the commencement date of the ferry service and scheduling, persons were advised to contact Aquatic Rentals at aquaticrentalsvi.com.

    The boat fares have sky rocketed and for what, hope the fare for this one is cheaper so that the other ferries will be forced to reduce their fares and luggage fees. A small carry on for the plane costs nothing but on the ferry it’s $10.00, ridiculous….

      A one-way trip is the cost of what used to be a roundtrip! I understand that prices had to go up, but the increases are ridiculous. Government needs to put guidelines in place so that there is a percentage cap for increases.

    I miss Interislands, but until they return or if they do not at least I have a ferry going Red Hook again. Let the competition begin!
