BVIPA announces temporary closure of Road Town Jetty Building for essential health & safety works
The closure is a precautionary measure to address identified concerns and maintain a safe and healthy environment for employees, passengers and all users of the facility.
During the closure period, all international ferry arrivals and departures normally facilitated at the Road Town Jetty will be processed at the West End Ferry Terminal, where His Majesty's Customs and Immigration Department will conduct the necessary clearance procedures.
Arriving Passengers: Passengers arriving in the Territory will be required to disembark at the West End Ferry Terminal, complete Immigration and Customs clearance, and arrange appropriate ground transportation to their onward destinations.
Passengers arriving on the final ferry service of the day will also disembark at West End with their luggage to complete the required clearance procedures. Once cleared, these passengers will reboard the ferry with their luggage for onward transportation to Road Town, where they will disembark on the domestic side of the Road Town Jetty.
Departing Passengers: Passengers who would normally depart from the Road Town Jetty must travel directly to the West End Ferry Terminal to access their scheduled international ferry services and complete departure formalities. Passengers are encouraged to allow additional travel time.
The BVIPA is working closely with the relevant government agencies and ferry operators to coordinate these temporary arrangements and minimise disruption to passengers.
The Authority remains committed to maintaining safe and reliable port facilities while prioritising the health and well being of its employees and the travelling public. It appreciates the public's patience, understanding and cooperation and sincerely apologises for any inconvenience caused.
Normal operations at the Road Town Jetty Building are expected to resume on Friday, 6 November 2026, subject to the satisfactory completion of the necessary works and confirmation that the facility is safe for occupancy.
The travelling public is encouraged to monitor the BVI Ports Authority's official communication channels for further updates.
