ROAD TOWN, Tortola – The British Virgin Islands Ports Authority (BVIPA) has announced a number of port closures in the Virgin Islands (VI) as a result of Tropical Storm Grace.

The Port closure will take effect from tomorrow, August 15, 2021, with additional advisories to come should the inclement weather persists.

The ports to be closed include Port Purcell, Road Town Jetty, and ports at Jost van Dyke, Virgin Gorda, and Anegada.

BVIPA said they expect the reopening of the ports to happen on Monday, August 16, 2021, once assessments of each facility are completed.

Today, Saturday, August 14, 2021, Tropical Cyclone Seven was strengthened to Tropical Storm Grace.

On the current forecast track, the centre of Grace is expected to move over the Leeward Islands tonight Saturday, and on Sunday, the centre will move over the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
