VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI- The BVI Health Services Authority (BVIHSA) has refuted reports circulating in the community that a patient died at Nurse Iris O’Neal Clinic due to a lack of oxygen supply there.

BVIHSA, in a statement on October 16, 2026, said a patient presented at the clinic in respiratory distress and later died. The Authority did not state when the patient arrived at the clinic or when they died.

"Oxygen was available at the clinic at the time of the incident. Therefore, the suggestion that the patient's passing occurred because oxygen was unavailable at the facility is not supported by facts."

We understand the concerns- BVIHSA

BVIHSA extended condolences to the deceased’s family and loved ones, and noted that it understands the concerns and questions that have arisen within the community.

The Authority also urged members of the public to seek clarification through official channels while allowing the family of the deceased the privacy and dignity they deserve.
