LONG BUSH, Tortola, VI- The BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) has introduced a series of territory-wide community meetings, ‘Beyond the Bill’, as another step in its commitment to public engagement.

BVIEC, in an October 29, 2026, press release, said this series is designed to bring residents closer to the people, services and decisions that impact their electricity supply.

The series will feature 11 community meetings across all nine Electoral Districts, creating opportunities for residents to engage directly with BVIEC’s management and departmental representatives, gain a better understanding of the Corporation’s operations and ongoing initiatives, and receive answers to questions affecting their households, businesses and communities.

The inaugural meeting begins in District 1 on Thursday, November 5, 2026, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at the West End Community Centre.

Greater transparency

BVIEC added that recognising that customers’ concerns extend beyond the amount reflected on their monthly electricity bills, the ‘Beyond the Bill’ series is intended to promote greater transparency, improve public understanding of electricity services, address misconceptions and strengthen communication between BVIEC and the communities it serves.

Each meeting will feature concise presentations from the Corporation’s various departments, covering topics such as: Understanding Your Electricity Bill; VIEWCo and the Future of Utility Services; Customer Services; Digital Services; Renewable Energy and Electrical Safety; and Power Generation and Outages.

A central feature of ‘Beyond the Bill’ will be direct interaction between residents and BVIEC’s management and departmental representatives.

Residents are encouraged to submit specific questions in advance through BVIEC’s official social media channels, particularly where they would like a matter addressed during the meeting.

Continuing into 2027

Beyond the Bill will continue into 2027, with a minimum of two meetings planned per active month, excluding December due to the holiday season.

BVIEC said to ensure residents across the Virgin Islands have an opportunity to participate, separate meetings will also be held on Jost van Dyke and Anegada, in addition to those planned on Tortola and Virgin Gorda.

Dates and venues for subsequent meetings will be announced as arrangements are finalised in collaboration with the respective District Representatives and relevant stakeholders.
