LONG BUSH, Tortola, VI- The British Virgin Islands Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) proudly celebrated the remarkable careers of four of its dedicated employees, who recently retired after collectively contributing over 140 years of service to the Corporation.

The retirees—Ms Sonia Dasent, Mr William Percival, Ms Darmetta Hucey, and Mr John Allen—were honoured during a heartfelt retirement party hosted at BVIEC’s Long Bush location, where colleagues gathered to extend their gratitude, share fond memories, and acknowledge the lasting impact each retiree has made within the Corporation.

• Sonia Dasent, who served as an Administrative Assistant within the Transmission & Distribution Department, concluded an exceptional 33-year career marked by professionalism, consistency, and teamwork.

• William Percival, a cornerstone of the Transmission & Distribution Department as a Senior Lineman, retired after an extraordinary 46 years of service, having played a vital role in maintaining the reliability and resilience of the Territory’s electrical grid.

• Darmetta Hucey, a dedicated Office Clerk in the Corporate Services Department, retired after 23 years of unwavering commitment to administrative excellence.

• John Allen, who served as Inventory Officer in the Finance Department, concluded 39 years of exemplary service, overseeing the critical logistics and supplies that support BVIEC’s operations.

Each retiree was presented with a commemorative plaque in recognition of their long-standing dedication, exceptional work ethic, and the legacy they leave behind. Their service reflects BVIEC’s commitment to cultivating career-focused positions, rather than simply offering jobs—an ethos that continues to guide the Corporation’s approach to employee development and retention.

Commenting on the celebration, People, Culture & Talent Services Manager Mrs Tamara George-Barry stated, “These four individuals exemplify what it means to build a career with purpose, pride, and perseverance. Their invaluable contributions have shaped the Corporation’s progress over the decades, and we are immensely grateful for the example they have set for future generations of BVIEC staff.”

BVIEC extends its heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the retirees as they begin this new chapter of life. Their dedication will forever remain a proud part of the Corporation’s history.
